Work on the interior design of the LION’S CASTLE HOTEL included a series of restoration measures to preserve the authentic elements of both hotel buildings. We did not set ourselves the task of obtaining a complete picture, since the two objects are different in terms of style, construction approaches and ergonomics. If one is a representative of modernism with the use of neo-Gothic elements, then the second reminds of the progressive transition to a functional way of thinking in design in the interwar period of the last century. Thinking that was in the trend of those trends that were happening at that time in Europe.
It was important not to damage and not to lose the filling of the interior, which has survived to our time, among which there were stairs in satisfactory condition that had not lost their original decoration. In one case, it was a reinforced concrete base equipped with black and white tiles on inter-floor marches in a checkerboard pattern with metal handrails, and in the other, it was completely oak. The imprint of time remained on them, which fortunately did not harm their functionality, so the wooden stairs were left, restored and became a real highlight of the interior. The joinery was replaced with full correspondence with the authentic ones.
In general, a tactful attitude to the buildings of the hotel complex in accordance with their historical value made it possible to properly emotionally restart this historical location.
